New Blog

It's been a LONG time since I posted any updates.  It seems like I never have any free time lately, I am looking forward to a relatively relaxing weekend.  Last weekend was packed full of activites and cake, starting with an evening out to the winery for a murder mystery dinner theater with a friend, having booth at a craft fair all day Saturday, then a 5th birthday party at my house Saturday evening, and my Grandparent's 50th anniversary party Sunday.  As if all that wasn't enough, I developed an allergic reaction to something on Thursday and had to take prednisone for a few days which caused my hands, feet, and knees to swell up and be extremely painful!  I'm crossing my fingers that the prednisone caused the pain and it wasn't a sudden arthritis flare up, we'll see what the weekend brings when the weather cools off again.

Last Thursday I hosted our weekly bible study/craft night and for the first time in quite a while we actually got some crafting done.  This is my new favorite block set:

This was inspired by a wood block set I saw on Pinterest.  These colors are perfect for my dining room.  Speaking of Pinterest, please check out my new blog!  I will be updating it much more frequently with a much bigger variety of items than just scrapbooking, it will include crafts, photography, cooking, and much more!

Homework

Marissa goes to school from 12-3 on Monday thru Thursday, luckily the babysitter can pick her up and drop her off.  I remember wondering last year if it was as big of a pain for the other parents that work every day to have to pick up their kids and after a discussion with another parent today I found out it is. Even in kinder-prep there is homework.  Marissa brought home a piece of card-stock with instructions to make a scrapbook page about our family.  This is one homework assignment I was eager to help with, although I was disappointed to have only an 8 1/2 x 11 in page, instead of 12x12.  I let Marissa pick out a couple things we like to do together and then I let her pick out some of the embellishments I had already stamped to add to the page.  She had actually helped me make several of these balloons the week before.  We wrote some of our favorite activities on each of the balloons and all our names on one of them.  Then she added the heart that she had embossed with the sizzix.

HiP HiP HOoRaY!!!

This past week has been very stressful for me, I've been making lots of trips to and from the KU med center where my Dad was a patient for 10 days.  It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from my house.  Things got a little scary for a couple days and it was REALLY hard to see him like that, but everything is looking better now and he's finally back home.  I hadn't been home much, so there was no one keeping up with any house work and every time I walked in the kitchen for the last few days I felt a little overwhelmed by how out of control it was, but finally today I was able to get it cleaned.  My daughter even cleaned the toy room, just to get out of taking a nap.

The weekend did bring lots of fun and excitement, my mom's cousin got married on Saturday and we had a great time at the wedding.  I danced the night away out on the floor with my husband like we were the only ones out there, actually half the time we really were the only ones out there!  Sunday morning the kids enjoyed a bath in the big jacuzzi in our hotel room.  My daughter was not happy to go home, she wanted to live in the hotel room.  I can't really blame her though, it was a pretty awesome suite :)  We brought my Dad home Sunday afternoon, my sister and husband were waiting for us at my parent's house.  My sister handed my mom her wedding album to see some of the pics she'd printed and after a few pages of wedding photos there was a SONOGRAM picture!!!!  At 13 weeks of marriage they announced they are 11 weeks pregnant.  Baby Williamson is due 3 days before my b-day :)  This is my first niece or nephew, other than my husband's niece and I am SO excited.

The inside of this card says "You're having a BABY!"  I also just ordered her the book, 'Oh Baby, the places you will go," using my amazon gift card balance I accumulated through swagbucks, bing rewards, and mechanical turk.

The banners for this card were cut from CTMH's Artiste cricut cartridge and then stamped using the colors twilight, hollyhock, smokey plum, lagoon, and blush.  The hip hip hooray was stamped using the color pear.

Never too early to start....

working on Christmas cards!  I was inspired by a simple card I saw on Pinterest for this one!  I think I need to get some embossing powder now and use it on the strings.  I haven't ever really used the stuff, but I remember my mom doing it all the time when I was younger.  These stamps are all from CTMH, I especially like the new set I used with bible verses.  I stamped one of them on the inside of the card.

Thanks...

I was browsing Pinterest the other night and looking through some card ideas, then I finally used some of those repins to create a few cards.  Here's a few simple thank you's.

White on White Card

I made another white on white wedding card and actually got a picture of it this time!  I cut these butterflies from Art Philosphy.  The Mr. and Mrs. stamp is from CTMH.  This picture doesn't really do the card much justice, it was kinda hard to get a good one that showed the different textures.  I need to set up a mini photo studio in my scrap room.  Today at Michaels I added to my Recollections shelves because they were on sale, buy 1 get 1 for a penny.  Eventually I'll get one of those cubes set up for photos.

White on White

I had a great time visiting with the ladies who attended my crop last week.  It was a small crowd, but hopefully in a couple months we can have a little better participation when there are less activities going on.  I finally made a white on white embossed card, which I keep seeing on Pinterest and LOVE.  I cut out some butterflies with my cricut and embossed them with my sizzix and embossed the card base with a different folder.  I did run the edges around my blue lagoon stamp to make them pop just a little bit.  It turned out great!  My Grandma showed up and said, "I should've had you make me a card for the bridal shower."  So I let her take that one with her, which is why I didn't get a picture.  I plan to make some more though, so I'll be sharing soon.  I also have a Christmas layout I made and need to post soon :)
